We have been working on an overhaul of our home office for the last few months, and I’d love to share a sneak peek with you of where we’re headed!
Josh has been working at home since 2020 (like so many others that never went back to a company office after Covid). We were so grateful to have had an extra bedroom that we could easily set up as a private home office for him, but because of the quick transition to working at home we never really did anything to establish that room as an official office. It also is the last room upstairs that has not been painted since we moved in a little over 6 years ago.
In short…it’s time for a refresh.
The largest change happened this past November when we added luxury vinyl plank flooring (we purchased this) throughout the entire upstairs, including the office. It made a huge difference in the feel of our home…some spaces feel twice as big as before! So now that the flooring feels less chopped up and majorly updated, it’s time for some simple aesthetic upgrades.
We currently have a large farmhouse-style desk for Josh and a smaller, similar-style one for me – both repainted in Benjamin Moore’s Hale Navy. Painting them the same color helped bring a cohesive feel to the furniture in the room even with the desks not being identical.
Our color for the walls is Sherwin Williams Color of the Year 2022 – a beautiful gray-green called Evergreen Fog. It goes so well with the honey-oak trim we have throughout our house and will help update while keeping the overall look mostly classic and traditional.
I love to create calming, beautiful spaces in our home that will also be functional for our family. So, adding a tall bookshelf will help with corralling all the extra books and papers that land in the office and also add space for displaying favorite smaller photos and collections. A few new lighting, art, and plant pieces will bring it all together…I’m so excited to see this room completed!
If you’re looking for an easy way to visualize a room refresh, Canva is a great resource for creating graphics like the one above. You can add photos of all of your room elements and see in one place how it all flows and incorporates together to make your home beautiful- and simplify the decision process too.
I’ll be sharing more on my Instagram page in real-time as this home office refresh comes together and the vision comes to life!
